47 Regional Sports Meet commences at different KVs

JAMMU, Aug 29: Two day long 47 Regional Sports Meet in various disciplines commenced today at different Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs).
JAMMU: 47th Regional Sports Meet for under-14, 17 and 19 girls in the disciplines of Kabaddi, Chess, Skating and Yoga of KVS Jammu Region was inaugurated in KV No.1 Jammu. More than 300 participants from 25 KVs of Jammu Region attended inaugural ceremony. On the occasion, S Sambanna, Assistant Commissioner and Officiating Deputy Commissioner KVS (JR) was the chief guest, who declared the meet open in presence of TR Choudhary, Venue Principal. A brief cultural programme was also presented by the children of KV No 1 Jammu. Sports oath was administered by Ayushi Ujjwal, a student of the host school. S Sambanna in his address highlighted the importance of sports and games.
Meanwhile, 47th KVS Regional Sports Meet of Chess for under 14, 17 and 19 categories was inaugurated at Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Bantalab, by Surinder Ambardar, MLC, BJP in the presence of V Santhosh Kumar, Principal, KV Bantalab. In the meet, 114 students and 19 teacher-escorts from 16 different KVs, situated in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and J&K are participating. Vidyalaya students presented cultural items during the inaugural ceremony. Players from different KVs took oath of sportsmanship. Surinder Ambardar encouraged the players to put their best efforts to win the game. The ceremony ended with vote of thanks by Romi Amrit, Vice Principal of the host Vidyalaya.
47th Regional Sports Meet commenced at KV No 2, Jammu Cantt. AS Gill, AC, KVS, JR was the chief guest on the occasion, who inaugurated the meet. 257 students of 18 KVs are participating in the meet. A short cultural programme was presented by the students of the host institution. The participating teams took the oath which was led by Kamil, followed by ‘Mashaal Run’ and march past. Three games–Cricket, Lawn Tennis and Skating in under14, 17 and 19 categories will be conducted. While speaking, AS Gill emphasized the role of sports in a student’s life and encouraged them to participate in the sports activities with true sportsmanship. Earlier, Venue Principal, Rita Bhsakar presented the welcome address.
UDHAMPUR: Two Days Regional Basketball Tournament commenced at KV No 1, here today. The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Colonel Gojendra Singh and Principal KV No 2, Udhampur. Venue Principal Dr R Prasad presented the welcome address. The first match was played between KV No 1 Udhampur and KV No 3 Amritsar, in which latter emerged winner.
LAKHANPUR: 47th Regional Sports Meet for under-14 and 19 girls in the discipline of Kho-Kho started at Kendriya Vidyalaya, here. Col DK Tiwary, Deputy Commander 401 (I) Arty Brigade and Chairman Nominee, VMC, KV Lakhanpur was the chief guest. A total of 2016 girls from 13 KVs are participating in this tournament. Venue Principal DR Patel presented the welcome address. Welcome and Himachali songs were presented by the students. Colonel DK Tiwary while speaking boosted the morale of the participants and gave them good wishes for the tournaments. Anil Bharti, Senior Teacher of the Vidyalaya presented vote of thanks.
