JAMMU, Oct 12: The highly anticipated 47th Jammu District Table Tennis Championship 2024 commenced at the Indoor Sports Complex, M.A. Stadium, here today. The event was officially inaugurated by Satbir Singh, senior vice president of the Jammu and Kashmir Table Tennis Association (JKTTA) and an international Table Tennis player. Ajay Sharma, international medallist, and I.P. Singh, a national Table Tennis player, was present as guests of honour.
In his opening remarks, the chief guest commended the organizers for their efforts in promoting the sport and encouraged all participants to give their best while playing with true sportsmanship. He further emphasized the importance of youth engagement in sports for overall development and a healthy lifestyle.
The tournament, which is being organized by the Jammu District Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the J&K Table Tennis Association and the J&K Sports Council, attracted around 150 participants from across Jammu district. The championship will be a three-day-long event, showcasing intense competition among the district’s top table tennis talent.
Several notable figures from the sports community, including Rajan Sharma, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra, Vasu Dewan and Meenu Rajesh, were also present to support and witness the exciting matches. The championship promises to be a thrilling event, as the best players from across the district compete for top honours. The tournament will conclude with the distribution of awards to the winners.
