JAMMU, Nov 8: The 47th J&K UT Table Tennis Championships 2024 commenced at the Indoor Sports Complex, M.A. Stadium, here today.
The event was inaugurated by Rajeev Sharma, member of the J&K Sports Council and president of the Tennikoit Federation of India. In his opening remarks, Sharma commended the organizers and motivated players to perform with dedication and sportsmanship. He remained at the venue to watch the matches.
Organized by the Jammu District Table Tennis Association in collaboration with the J&K Table Tennis Association and J&K Sports Council under the “My Youth My Pride” initiative, the championship features approximately 3,000 players from across Jammu and Kashmir. This five-day event, marking the end of the 2024 domestic table tennis season, is crucial for players aiming to secure rankings necessary for selection in the UT team for the upcoming National Championships in January.
Notable attendees included Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Narinder Singh, Sheetal Gandotra, Vasu Dewan, Meenu Rajesh and Gurvinder Singh.
