JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 25: A total of 48 candidates today filed their nomination papers for fourth phase of polling in Srinagar, Anantnag, Shopian and Samba districts.
Two candidates filed nomination papers for Samba (Reserve) Assembly constituency including Satwant Kour Doda of national Conference and Sunny Sangral of PDP before Returning Officer Pradeep Singh Manhas.
PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed joined Sunny Sangral in filing his nomination papers and called upon the people of Samba to elect the young and dynamic leader as their representative.
Two Independent candidates Kuldeep Raj and Kamal Kishore filed their papers for Vijaypur Assembly constituency in Samba district.
With today’s nominations, a total of 14 candidates have joined the electoral fray for two seats of Samba district, which will go to polls in fourth phase on December 14.
Tomorrow is last date for filing the papers.
Meanwhile, 44 candidates filed their nomination papers from 16 constituencies of Srinagar, Shopian and Anantnag districts, going to vote on December 14, taking the number of candidates who filed their nominations from these constituencies so far to 97.
Masood-ul-Hassan of BJP filed his nomination papers today before the Returning Officer, Shabir-ul-Hassan from Hazratbal constituency today. The constituency is represented by NC MLA Dr Mustafa Kamaal, however, he is contesting from Gulmarg constituency.
Syed Owais Qadri and Saleem Akhtar Malik, two Independent candidates filed their nomination papers from Zadibal Assembly constituency today. The constituency is being represented by Peer Afaq of NC.
Imtiaz Ahmad Khan of Congress filed his nomination papers today before the Returning Officer, Merajudin from Eidgah constituency where NC candidate and Speaker of the Assembly Mubarak Gul is seeking re-election.
Mohammad Yaqoob Vakil of Congress filed his nomination papers from Khanyar constituency today. Ali Mohammad Sagar of NC is seeking re-election from here.
Sheikh Anees Rasool of Congress, Syed Masood Ahmad of NPP and Shafat Ahmad Sidiqi of PC filed their nomination papers today before the Returning Officer, Bilal Khursheed from Amira Kadal constituency. Nasir Wani of NC is seeking re-election form here.
Batmaloo where Irfan Shah of NC is seeking re-election, five candidates – Muzaffar Ahmad Gazi of PC, Mohammad Maqbool Rather of BSP, Mehbooba Shadab, Reyaz Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Adil Hussain Dar, Independents – filed their nominations today.
Sonwar that is represented by Mohammad Yasin Shah of NC, five candidates -Amjad Ali Budroo of AIFB, Farooq Ahmad Dar of NPP, Mohammad Ashraf Mir of PDP, Laldin Mir of PC, Reyaz Ahmad Wani of KMP and Gouhar Ahmad, Independent – filed their nominations today.
Two candidates, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of BSP and Fayaz Ahmad Wani of Republican Party filed their nomination papers from Anantnag constituency today before the Returning Officer, Mohammad Yusuf Bhat. Former Chief Minister and PDP candidate, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is seeking re-election from here.
Ghulam Ahmad Mir of Congress who is seeking re-election from Dooru and Mohammad Yusuf Gania of NPP filed their nomination papers today before the Returning Officer, Khursheed Ahmad Sania.
Irfan of Kullar of Congress and Altaf Ahmad Kallu of NC filed their nomination papers from Pahalgam constituency before the Returning Officer, Hashmat Ali Yatoo. Rafi Ahmad Mir of PDP is seeking re-election from here.
From Bijbehara constituency Pushkar Nath Pandita of BJP filed his nomination papers today before the Returning Officer, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat. Abdul Rehman Bhat of PDP is seeking re-election from here.
Shangus where PDP MLA, Peer Mansoor is seeking re-election, BJP candidate Khalid Muzaffar Maqbool Bhat son of former Union Minister of State for Home, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Independent candidates Mohammad Yusuf Gania and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat filed their nomination papers before the Returning Officer, Zahoor Ahmad Raina, today.
Ghulam Nabi Adgami of NC and Abdul Rahim Rather of PDP filed their nominations from Kokernag Assembly constituency before the Returning Officer Ghulam Rasool Wani today. Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed of Congress is seeking re-election from here. Rather had to file his papers yesterday but couldn’t do so due to large number of people accompanying him. He filed the papers today.
Sheikh Mohammad Rafi of NC, Javed Ahmad Qadri of BJP, Mushtaq Ahmad of Congress, Mohammad Yusuf Haji, Independent and Shah Fayaz of NPP filed their nominations from Shopian constituency today before returning officer, Ghulam Qadir Wani. The constituency is represented by PDP MLA Abdul Razak Wagay.
Showkat Ahmad Gania of NC, Kulbushan Kaw, Independent, Mohammad Khalil Naik of AIP, Ihsan-ul-Haq of PC and Mohammad Yusuf Mir of NPP filed their nomination papers from Wacchi constituency today before returning officer, Mohammad Ashraf Katoo. The constituency was represented by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti who became MP early this year.
