SRINAGAR, Sept 22: Ghani Gladiators secured 5-wicket win over Silk Tigers in the ongoing Khyber Downtown Champions League at Kashmir University Cricket Ground, here today.
This was Gliders’ fourth consecutive win which took them to top of the DCL points table.
Batting first, Silk Tigers scored a fighting total of 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Asif Khan played a magnificent innings of 65 runs, while Wasim Ahmed contributed valuable 26 runs to the total. For Ghani Gladiators, Riyaz Ahmed and Jehangir Nabi were the successful bowlers, claiming 2 wickets each in their four over spell.
In reply, Ghani Gladiators, achieved the required target of 161 with ease losing only five wickets. Ulfat with 51, Adil Showket with 41 and Jehangir Nabi with 25 runs were the top run scorers for their side. For Silk Tigers Muzaffar Ahmed took two wickets.
Ulfat for his 51 run knock was declared man of the match and Riyaz Ahmed was declared best bowler of the match while maximum sixes award was given to Jehangir Nabi
Meanwhile, Mubarik Ahmed’s 64 run knock helped Jawahir Hawks to a comfortable eight wicket victory over Ad-life Stars in their league match on Sunday in Khyber Downtown Champions League T-20 tournament played at Kashmir University Ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, Ad-life Stars managed to put a formidable total of 168 for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Middle order batsman, Rakesh Koul with 62 and Javed Ahmed with 61 runs were top run scorers for their side. For Jawahir Hawks, Musaib was the pick of the bowlers claiming three wickets in his four over spell, and Amir Farooq also bagged two wickets.
In reply Jawahir Hawks achieved the required target of 168 with ease losing only two wickets. Mubashir with 64 and Suhail Mir with unbeaten 52 were the top run scorers for their side. For Ad-life Stars Manzoor Ahmed and Sarfaraz took one wicket.
Mubarik Ahmed for his 64 run knock was declared man of the match and Musaib was declared best bowler of the match. Maximum Sixes award was given to Suhail.
