SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Director General of Youth Services and Sports Mohammad Ashraf Bhat inaugurated 4th edition of Champions Trophy cricket tournament at TRC Ground, here today.
The tournament is being organized by the Cricket Fraternity Dalgate (CFD) wherein about 32 teams across the Valley are taking part in 30 overs knockout basis game.
On the occasion of the inaugural match of the tournament, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Services and Sports Mohammad Ashraf Bhat congratulated the Dalgate Cricket Fraternity for organizing such tournaments. “It is the social responsibility of every fraternity to organize such sports activities so that the youth could be engaged in sports,” he said.
He said that the Government would extend all possible support for organizing such sports activities. “Holding such tournaments gives an opportunity to the young players to showcase their talents,” he added.
Later, the inaugural match was played between Back Country Bashers (BCB) and Kings XI Murran Pulwama in which BCB won the toss and elected to bat first.
Batting first, the BCB scored 195 runs in the allotted 30 overs wherein Wasim scored highest 64 runs for BCB while in reply the Kings-XI Muran bundled out only on 61 runs resulting the BCB defeated them with a huge margin of 134 runs.
Mohsin was declared as man of the match on his best bowling spell in which he took six wickets.
