JAMMU, Dec 23: 4th Jammu District Sambo Championship, being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Sambo Association commenced at Shastri Memorial Higher Secondary School Patoli, here today.
Around 200 players from various schools participated in the event and vied for the top honours.
Arun Kumar, former Corporator was the chief guest on the opening ceremony, while Baljeet Singh Principal, Cambridge Public School was the guest of honour.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sonu Gupta, Rohit, Suraj Bhan Singh, Pooja Basan, Arun Charak and Ranjeet Singh.
The bouts are being officiated by Rohit Sadhotra, Neha Sharma and Sanjay Khajuria.
In Under-16 boys, Imtiaz, Aakash and Sumar Partap claimed gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while the gold medals in other weight categories were bagged by Harshit Manhas, Daksh Chalotra, Pranshu, Danish Jamwal, Dhruv Singh, Ritesh Tickoo, Krish Bakshi, Suhail Rehman and Abhishek.
