JAMMU, Apr 24: Association of Karate Jammu and Kashmir organized today 4th UT level Karate Championship 2023 at Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Sports Complex which shall continue for the next two days.
The championship is being organized in the memory of the late Prem Nath Gupta, wherein more than 200 contestants from various parts of UT of J&K are participating in the championship. The event has been divided based on the age and weight of the contestants.
Dr. Dushyant Chaudhary, Governor Rotary Club J&K, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab was the chief guest at the opening ceremony, while KK Gupta and Dr. B.S Bhatia Principal Rajouri College were the guests of honour.
During the opening ceremony, the contestants showed their Karate skills and the guests were apprised of the fact that Karate is a form of self defence and helps in physical and mental development of the children.
Swaran Gupta, Jaswant Rai Gupta, Ashok Gupta, Vinod Gupta, Arti Rajinder Gupta, Neeraj Gupta and Arit Gupta, all the family members of late Prem Nath Gupta were present during the opening ceremony.
The championship is being presided over by Sushil Kumar, Haib Singh and Ankit Jaglan from Haryana while Kuljeet Singh Jamwal, president J&K Association of Karate, Amit Singh Black belt 4th Dan, Sensei Vikas Dhar, Sensei Abhimanyu Charak are looking after the overall arrangement of the championship.
