RAJOURI, June 26: The police foiled two attempts of narcotics smuggling in Kandi and Manjakote area of district Rajouri and arrested five persons along with 18 rolls of charas, four grams of heroin and rupees five lakh cash from their possession.
Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Chandan Kohli said that a team of police headed by Station House Officer Kandi, Mustaj Ahmed under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer during routine vehicle checking exercise at Manoor Gala intercepted a motorcycle No. JK11D/ 5201 which was on way to Kotranka from Rajouri. The biker along with two pillion riders tried to escape from the spot.
However, alert cops over powered the three persons and during frisking, eighteen rolls of Charas were recovered from their possession.
All the three accused have been arrested by Kandi police and a case under relevant sections of law including NDPS Act has been registered against them at Police Station Kandi. Further, investigation into the matter was in progress, the SSP said.
Kohli further said that a team of police from Manjakote headed by Station House Officer Manjakote Pankaj Sharma under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Manjakote Nisar Khoja during patrolling intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration JK11A /8372 near ZEO office, Manjakote for routine vehicle checking.
Two persons namely Mohammad Rafiq, son of Abdullah, resident of Sialsui in Kalakote and Mohammad Sadiq @ Matu, son of Mohammad Khan, resident of Rani Badetar in Nowshera were travelling on the motorcycle. During their frisking, 4 grams of heroin and Rs 5 lakh cash was recovered from their possession.
A case FIR No. 107/2020 U/S 8/21/22/25/27-A/29 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Manjakote against them and further investigation was in progress.
