5 killed, 3 hurt in mishaps

DODA, July 17: Five persons were killed and three others injured in separate road accidents in the district.
According to a police spokesman, two persons were killed on the spot while two others received serious injuries when a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK06-3392, in which they were travelling from Cherrah village to Thatri, when due to alleged negligence of the driver, the vehicle fell down into a deep gorge.
He said that the injured persons namely Rashid Hussain son of Manwar Din, resident of Rangola Nowtas, tehsil Phagsoo and Tauqueer Hussain son of Rehmatullah Lone, resident of Zanehri (Thatri) were immediately rushed to District Hospital Doda but they died on way to the hospital. Those who killed on the spot were Altaf Hussain son of Mohd Iqbal Naik resident of Jainerri and Yasir Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid Butt, resident of Janeeri (Thathri).
The bodies of all the deceased were shifted to District Hospital Doda for post mortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Thatri and investigations taken up.
Another mishap occurred at Thatri, where a JCB while engaging in some work plunged in a deep gorge due to which its operator namely Ramesh Kumar resident of Punjab, received serious injuries. He was immediately taken to PHC Thatri, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for post mortem. The concerned police had registered a case in this connection.
Three persons were injured in another mishap near village Udrana, when a Winger car bearing registration number JK14-9532, in which they were travelling, hit the wall of a shop due to failure of brakes of the vehicle. Three injured persons identified as Girdhari Lal son of Hari Lal of Bhalra, Tutti wife of Saj Ali and Talib Hussain son of Taj Din, both residents of Jai, were shifted to SDH Bhaderwah for treatment. Police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
