JAMMU, Sept 3: The 53rd National Sports Meet for Girls of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) was inaugurated at K.K. Hakku Stadium, here today, with great enthusiasm. The event will see around 850 girls from Under-14 and Under-17 categories competing in Hockey and Kabaddi over five days. Participants from 25 KVS regions are taking part in this grand event.
Nagendra Goyal, Deputy Commissioner of KVS RO Jammu Region, was the chief guest at the inauguration, while Mohammad Hanif, Deputy Secretary and Chief Sports Officer of Jammu-Kashmir Sports Council, served as the special guest. Other dignitaries, including KVS Assistant Commissioners Islam Khan, Anil Kumar and Hari Singh were also present along with HS Khushwa from KVS HQ New Delhi.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and special guest, followed by a welcome song and dance by the students of Kendriya Vidyalayas of Jammu region. The KVS flag was hoisted, and a march past was conducted. The participants took an oath under the guidance of sports teachers.
In his address, Nagendra Goyal emphasized the importance of such events in fostering national unity and healthy sportsmanship among girls. The event commenced with a hockey match between the Chennai and Lucknow regions.
