60 bottles of illicit liquor seized

KATHUA, Aug 26: The Excise sleuths today during a naka seized 60 bottles of IMFL of brand “Everyday Prestige Whisky”  meant for sale in Punjab .
According to a handout issued by Excise Department the whisky was blended & bottled by Om Sons Marketing Pvt. Ltd. village Sangat Kalan, distt. Bathinda, Punjab. The driver of the vehicle  namely Surjeet Singh S/o Bishan Dass R/o Kothe tehsil Pathankot, Manwal Mangwal, Bamial Pathankot was formally arrested U/S 48(a), 50(1) & 56 of the J&K Excise Act, Smvt.,1958.
On thorough checking the vehicle was found loaded with IMFL imported illegally into the State of J&K without any relevant documents and without payment of duties & taxes.
The naka was laid on the directions of the Excise Commissioner, Government of J&K, Mohd. Javed Khan and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Syed Muried Hussain Shah, today at Saktachak by a team comprising of Excise & Taxation Officer, Excise Range Kathua,  Sandeep Gupta, Inspector Excise Sub Range Kathua,  Arun Kumar along with excise staff, Excise Range Kathua.
