UDHAMPUR, Dec 2: Police recovered 61 kgs poppy straw from a truck near Jakhani on Udhampur National Highway and arrested two persons allegedly involved in smuggling the consignment.
The truck, bearing Registration number JK02DC-7519, with two persons on board, namely Kulvinder Singh son of Karnail Singh of Thakrakot, Reasi and Kuldeep Raj son of Charan Dass of Kanahchak, was coming from Srinagar towards Udhampur.
A team of Police Station Udhampur, led by SHO, Inspector Raghubir Singh, intercepted the truck at Jakhani. During search, 61.43 kgs of poppy straw was recovered from the truck.
Police arrested both the persons and seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle.
In this connection, a case FIR number 613/2023 under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act, has been registered in Police Station Udhampur and further investigation was taken up.
