68th National School Games to commence today

*30 teams from across India reach Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 6: 35 teams from across the country will participate in the 68th National School Games in the discipline of Judo for U-17 Boys, with 30 teams having already arrived in Jammu for the event. The opening ceremony of this prestigious sporting event is scheduled for tomorrow at MA Stadium, Jammu.
The event will feature four sports disciplines: Judo, Fencing, Wushu, and Football. The Judo and Wushu competitions will be held at the Indoor Sports Complex in Bhagwati Nagar, Fencing at the Gymnasium Hall of the University of Jammu, and the Football tournament will take place at the Sainik School Football Ground in Nagrota.
Rajinder Singh Tara, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, who is also the Chairman of the event, stated that all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the event have been made. These include arrangements for the comfortable stay of the participants, transportation, and facilities at the competition venues. He also emphasized that strict instructions have been given to conveners and committee officials to ensure that the event runs efficiently and serves as a benchmark for future tournaments.
The Judo U-17 Boys National Championship is part of the 68th National School Games series, which also includes Fencing, Wushu, and Football. As of now, 30 teams have already arrived in Jammu, including teams from Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal. Teams from Chhattisgarh, CBSE WSO, Jharkhand, Navodaya Vidyalaya Sanghathan, and Tripura have yet to report.
