68th National School Games U-19 TT C’ship begins

LEH, Oct 5: The 68th National School Games U-19 Boys/Girls Table Tennis Championship 2024 kicked off at NDS Indoor Stadium, organized by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with the School Games Federation of India (SGFI). The event was inaugurated by Administrative Secretary of Youth Services and Sports, Vikram Singh Malik, who served as the Chief Guest.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Leh, Tsering Tashi, extended greetings to the participants and set a positive tone for the four-day competition, highlighting the participation of 31 teams from various states, union territories, and institutions.
The chief guest encouraged the players, emphasizing the importance of sports development at the local level and congratulating students, coaches, and managers for their enthusiasm. He also engaged with players, adding a personal touch to the championship’s opening ceremony. The inaugural match featured a thrilling boys’ competition between the teams from Gujarat and West Bengal. The ceremony concluded with a cultural performance by the Cultural Academy of Traditional Sports (CATs), showcasing the vibrant Spawo dance, which reflects the rich heritage of Ladakh.
Notable attendees included Director of Housing and Urban Development Moses Kunzang, Chief Engineer PDD Tsewang Paljor, and officials from various departments and the SGFI.
