JAMMU, Nov 11: Delhi emerged as the overall champion of the 68th National School Games U-17 Boys Judo Championship held at the Indoor Sports Complex Bhagwati Nagar, here today.
With an impressive total of 20 points from one gold, four silver, and three bronze medals, Delhi dominated the competition. Haryana followed closely in second place, securing 13 points with two gold and one silver, while Punjab finished third with nine points, having won one gold, one silver and one bronze.
The host team, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed 12th place out of 35 participating teams, earning a silver medal, which was secured by Ridhum in a stellar performance. Chandigarh’s Saiyam Choudhary, competing in the -50 kg category, was named the best Judoka of the Championship for his exceptional skills.
The medal ceremony was attended by Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Rajinder Singh Tara, who praised the athletes for their determination and spirit. Tara also expressed pride in the successful hosting of the event and announced that J&K would be hosting three more SGFI events this month, including Fencing, Wushu and Football. The 68th National School Games U-14 Boys and Girls Fencing Championship will begin tomorrow at the University of Jammu, with 21 States and UTs set to compete.
