JAMMU, Nov 17: Haryana boys claimed the Sabre team Gold while Manipur girls continued their fencing dominance by bagging the Foil team Gold at the 68th National School Games U-17 Boys and Girls Fencing Championship, held at the Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu.
The event is part of a month-long series organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports under the School Games Federation of India (SGFI), featuring over 4000 athletes from across India.
In the U-17 Boys Sabre team event, the J&K boys (Vinayak Sharma, Devansh Sharma, Satvik Bangotra, and Vansh Raina) displayed remarkable resilience to secure a Silver medal, with Haryana clinching the Gold. The Bronze medal was awarded to Gujarat and IBSSO.
In the U-17 Girls Foil, the Manipur girls (Takhellamban Mangaleibi, Maibam Geetarani Devi, Laishom Thoithoi Chanu, and Huiningshumban Tonibia Chanu) earned Gold, while CBSE claimed Silver and Punjab and Gujarat shared the Bronze. The event witnessed about 600 fencers from 21 States/UTs participating in fierce competition.
