JAMMU, Dec 31: The 6th Jammu & Kashmir UT Karate Championship 2024 concluded at Indoor Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, here today with over 500 participants competing across various categories.
Held over two days, the championship featured Sub Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories. The first day focused on the Sub Junior events, while the second day saw the Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories in action. The event was officiated by a distinguished technical team, including Shihan Ashwani Yadav (AKF Certified Judge), Sensei Akhtar (Head Admin, KIO Sportdata India), Mohd Aurangzeb (President, SKFI), along with other qualified referees like Anilkumar, Rajan Jamwal, Tajamul Islam, Ganesh Gupta, and Priya Sharma.
During the closing ceremony, special guests Rahil Gupta (Vice Chairman, AKAJK) and Ambedkar Gupta (President, AKAJK) distributed medals to the winners, while Ajaz Ahmed (General Secretary, AKAJK) presented the vote of thanks. The event also recognized international karatekas such as Poonam Salathia, Azmat Kalyan, and Rajat Singh for their contributions to the sport.
The Team Kumite event saw the AKAJK Team winning the first place, followed by Jammu District in second place and Baramulla and Udhampur districts sharing third place.
In the Cadet Boys & Girls category, Mehr un N (Budgam), Avneet K (Jammu), Angat S (Udhampur), Vishal V (Udhampur), Hussnain A (Rajouri), Rudra Pratap S (Udhampur), and Rudrah S (Udhampur) clinched gold medals. Silver went to Sumanshi S (Udhampur), Rutba H (Ganderbal), Arifa W (Baramulla), Surinder G (Rajouri), Ahmad Saqib C (Ganderbal), Haroon N (Budgam), and Aryan B (Jammu), while Zikra B (Budgam), Ekam Ekagar V (Rajouri), Masroof Ahmad D (Kupwara), Wani M (Kupwara), Bashir Mir B (Budgam), Munazim M (Ganderbal), Farooq M (Kupwara), and Munazim M (Ganderbal) earned bronze medals.
In the Junior Boys & Girls category, gold medals were awarded to Varun K (Udhampur), Zameer Ahmad B (Bandipora), Lovesh D (Budgam), Majeed Malik (Kupwara), Leepakshi B (Rajouri), and Lovesh D (Budgam). Silver medals went to Varun S (Udhampur), Prashant D (Rajouri), Sahil A (Budgam), and Ifra P (Baramulla), while Puran S (Udhampur) and Prince B (Udhampur) secured bronze.
In the Under-21 Boys & Girls category, gold medals were won by Pakeeza N (Baramulla), Adil M (Rajouri), Vipul S (Rajouri), Owais W (Baramulla), and Reshi A (Kupwara). Silver medals went to Riya S (Udhampur), Sangra Arindham (Kathua), Bhanu Partap (Udhampur), Harman J (Jammu), and Faizan Bashir (Budgam), while Pakeeza N (Baramulla), Junaid A (Bandipora), Nasir Farooq (Baramulla), and Saqib Modh K (Rajouri) earned bronze.
In the Senior Male & Female categories, gold medals were claimed by Iram I (Ganderbal), Mukhtar D (Srinagar), Neeraj M (Udhampur), Kalian K (Jammu), Sheikh N (Kathua), Sahiba (Ganderbal), Tanzeela N (Budgam), Bilal Zarah (Jammu), Shabrar S (Budgam), Mukhtar A (Budgam), Rajat Singh (Jammu), and Vipul (Rajouri). Silver medals were awarded to Priyanshi S (Udhampur), Tabiya F (Ganderbal), Sahil Hamid M (Baramulla), Mazoor M (Kupwara), Shakir S (Baramulla), Fayaz S (Kupwara), Farhat M (Baramulla), Misba M (Budgam), Syed A (Budgam), Umar F (Baramulla), Maqbool (Budgam), and Rishav (Jammu), while Devi V (Udhampur), Vansh S (Udhampur), Dushyant G (Udhampur), Takhmeena T (Budgam), Misba M (Budgam), Saima B (Budgam), Mohammad U (Bandipora), Ashish (Rajouri), Vikas Charak (Jammu), Raghav (Budgam), Manhas Singh (Jammu) and Kumar R (Jammu) earned bronze medals.
