6th State Rugby Sevens Championship concludes

SRINAGAR, Aug 16: The 6th State Rugby Sevens Championship 2013, organized by J&K Rugby Association concluded at Government College for Women, M A Road, here today.
400 players drawn from the teams of Kupwara, Bandipora, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Budgam, Jammu, Anantnag, Pulwama and Srinagar took part in this mega event.
J P Singh Bali, joint secretary (Kashmir), J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest, while Prof Shaheen Altaf, Principal, Government College for Women M A Road was the guest of honour on the prize distribution ceremony. These dignitaries distributed the prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
The championship was sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
Meanwhile, 10-days coaching camp for the senior boys team is going on at the Polo Ground for the preparation of the State team for the Senior National Rugby Sevens Championship 2013 at Bakhshi Stadium, Srinagar.
In sub junior girls, District Srinagar claimed the title, Budgam bagged runners-up trophy and Pulwama clinched the third spot, while in junior girls, Srinagar, Ganderbal and Jammu bagged the first three places respectively.
In senior girls, Srinagar A emerged winners, Srinagar B runners-up and the third place went to Bandipora.
In sub junior boys, Budgam (Green) and Budgam (Yellow) emerged winners and runners-up respectively, while Srinagar claimed the third place.
In junior boys, Bandipora bagged the winners trophy, Srinagar remained runners-up and Budgam got the third place, while in Under-20 boys, Al-Mehmoodia (Srinagar) emerged winners, J&K Reds ( Budgam) got runners-up trophy, while HMT Bulls (Baramulla) bagged  third place.
In senior men, Srinagar (Green),  Srinagar (Yellow) and Bandipora (Red) bagged first three places respectively.
