UDHAMPUR, Apr 9: Police today foiled two attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued seven animals besides arresting three smugglers under the jurisdiction of Police Station Rehmbal.
Based on reliable information, a Police party of PP Tikri laid a surprise naka on the National Highway in the wee hours and intercepted one Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK02AW-9530, which was on its way from Jammu to Kashmir. During thorough search, three bovine Animals were found packed inside this vehicle. Police rescued all the animals and arrested the smuggler, identified as Sanjeev Kumar of Rathana, R S Pura Jammu. The vehicle used for bovine smuggling was also seized.
In another success, Tikri Police rescued four more bovine animals, which were being smuggled to Kashmir Valley on foot by two smugglers namely Farooq Ahmed and Shabir Ahmed of Qazigund Anantnag. Police arrested both the smugglers and registered a case against them.
