JAMMU, June 3: Seven State Wushu players and one coach from the State of Jammu and Kashmir have reserved their berth in the ongoing National Wushu Coaching Camp at SAI HATC Shilaroo.
The Camp started from May 25, 2017 and will conclude on July 20, 2017.
During the selection trial held by the Wushu Association of India at NS NIS Patiala, 46 campers (40 Players+5 Coaches and 1 Physio) have been shortlisted for the forthcoming 14th World Wushu Championship to be held at Kazan (Russia) from September 25 to October 4, 2017.
The final selection trial for the 14th World Wushu championship and the one month foreign exposure training and competition will be held on July 19 and July 20, 2017.
Ace Wushu coach, Kuldeep Handoo from J&K has again been selected as National Chief Coach of the team, while the selected players include Haqeek Ahmed-Samba (48kg); Abhishek Jamwal-Jammu (52kg); Surya Bahanu Partap Singh-Jammu (60kg); Chander Dev Singh-Jammu (65kg); Pankaj Raina-Jammu (75kg); Pardeep Kumar-Samba (70 Kg) and Rajinder Singh-Samba (90kg).
It is pertinent to mention here that for the year 2016-17, J&K Wushu Association has earned 3 medals in the World Championship, 2 medals in the Asian Wushu Championship, 2 medals in the SAF Games, 2 medals in the 6th Pars Cup (Iran) and 5 medals in the Armenia International Wushu Championship.
