7 seriously injured in fire after LPG cylinder leakage

POONCH, Apr 30: Seven members of a family were seriously  injured when their kitchen caught fire with the leakage of cooking gas (LPG) cylinder at  Samote village in Surankote area this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that incident took place  at around 4.30 pm today in the house of one Mohd Sadeeq, son of Khadam Hussain at Jogi Morh, in Samote area of  tehsil  Surankote.
Two ladies of the family along with their minor children were in the kitchen,  doing some domestic work when the LPG cylinder suddenly caught fire. The women raised alarm and Mohd Sadeeq rushed there from the other room  for the rescue.  He managed to pull out his wife and other relative from the kitchen besides children but he sustained serious injuries. The three children and another woman also got injured  in the mishap.  The kitchen had been engulfed in flames.
The neighbours also rushed there after hearing  the screams of trapped family and they controlled the fire. Some kitchen items were also damaged in the fire incident.
All the seven injured were rushed to Surankote Hospital where doctors provided preliminary treatment and referred three of them to GMC Hospital, Jammu. Four of them were later admitted to District Hospital, Poonch.
Those referred to GMC Jammu were identified as Mohd Sadeeq (47), his wife Sakina Begum (44) and   Abida Kouser (24), wife of Mohd Arshed, whereas, four others Nahid Kouser (25), wife of Showkat Ali, their two children Imroz Ali-5 yrs and Taiba- 6 yrs and 13-year old Arzu Kouser, daughter of Sikander have been admitted to District Hospital, Poonch. The condition of those admitted in Poonch hospital, was said to be stable. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
