JAMMU, Aug 2: The Forest department team, assisted by local police and Forest Protection Force men cleared nearly 70 kanals of Forest land in Sunjwan area of Bahu Range last evening.
Official sources said that Forest officials in the office of DFO Jammu came to know about the land grabbing attempt in compartment No 5 and 6 in Bahu Range, falling in Sunjwan area. The team led by DFO, Jammu Dr V Senthil Kumar along with some police force men and own staff rushed to the site. The land grabbers escaped along with two CJBs engaged at work on the Government land.
Later, Minister for Forests Ch Lal Singh assisted by CCF Jammu, Roshan Jaggi and CF East Navin Shah also reached there to supervised operation. About 70 kanal of land was cleared which was being illegally grabbed by one Muktiar Ahmed of Bijbehara in Kashmir. Navin Shah said that land grabbers along with some revenue officials managed to prepare some forged documents in connivance with Revenue staff. DC Jammu has been requested to send Revenue team for joint demarcation and initiate scrutiny of the fake Revenue record managed by accused party.
