7th J&K UT Kalaripayattu C’ship commences

JAMMU, July 6: The two-day long J&K UT Kalaripayattu Championship organized by Kalaripayattu Association of J&K commenced at Baby Caterers Hall Rehari, here today.
The Championship was organized under the leadership of Lalit Kumar Gupta (president, Kalaripayattu Association of J&K) and Danish Sharma (general secretary of the Association).
More than 200 players from different districts of J&K including Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Reasi, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Kulgam, Bandipora, Kupwara, Udhampur, Kishtwar, Doda and Baramulla are participating in the championship with great zeal and enthusiasm.
Ranjeet Kalra, Member of J&K Sports Council was the chief guest on the occasion while Baljinder Pal Singh, Divisional Sports Officer (J&K Sports Council) was the guest of honour. Vinay Khajuria (Vice Principal, International Delhi Public School, Akhnoor) was among the special guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Ranjeet Kalra appreciated Kalaripayattu Association for organizing the championship and providing a platform to the youth to channelize their energy towards sports.
During the event, players were also felicitated with medals and awards for their achievements.
