JAMMU, Sept 27: 8th Jammu District Under-11 Senior Rollball Championship for boys and girls got underway at MA Stadium Skating Rink, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Dawood Iqbal Baba, Director Sports, University of Jammu in an impressive and well attended function.
Over 150 boys and girls compromising 20 teams are participating in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Baba applauded the efforts of the organisers for holding the event in a befitting manner and said that construction of an exclusive Rollball Rink is under active consideration at Jammu University.
In under-11 girls section, Lotus Club defeated Lilies Club by 5 -2, while in boys section, team Blue defeated team Red by 6-2 and team Green outplayed team yellow by 7-1. Shabad, Moulik, Krishna and Pariksha were the star performers.
In senior section, the match between Jammu-A and Jammu-D witnessed a very close contest and ended in 4-4 draw.
Sharp Shooters defeated Roller Divas in another closely fought match by 6 goals to 5.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Madan Khajuria, Rajinder Khajuria, Rita Rehan, Vishali Bagal, Satish Koul, Krishan Kumar, Bhupinder Kumar, Rajesh Kumar and Sudhir Singh.
The tournament is being played under the overall supervision of Madhu Khajuria, General Secretary of the Association.
