JAMMU, Sept 9: The 8th J&K UT District Level Men and Women Powerlifting and Benchpress Championship concluded at Indoor Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, here.
More than 50 players under different weight categories, including men and women, participated in the Championship. In the closing ceremony, DySP Gurmeet Singh was the chief guest. He gave away medals and trophies to the winners.
In Men category, Vijay Singh and Ritesh Peer bagged first and 2nd positions respectively in 52 kg weight category, Mantu Gupta emerged winner in 59 kg and Gagandeep Singh in 83 kg category. Abhishek Manhas and Vishal Dev Singh got 1st and 2nd positions respectively in 93 kg category while Aditya Gupta and Anirudh bagged 1st and 2nd ranks respectively in 105 kg category.
In Women category, Radhika Sharma and Ridhima got 1st and 2nd positions respectively in 52 kg weight category while Nandini bagged 1st position in 59 kg, Kritika got 1st rank in 74 kg and Madhu Rani secured 1st rank in 83 kg category.
The closing ceremony ended with vote of thanks presented by Rakesh Kumar, general secretary of the Powerlifting Association of J&K.
