9th North Kashmir Sports Festival concludes

Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani presenting trophy to winners of 9th North Kashmir Sports Festival at Sports Stadium, Baramulla on Saturday.

SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Month long Annual North Kashmir Sports festival organised by J&K Police concluded today at Sports Stadium Baramulla.
On the occasion, Minister of State for Home Nasir Aslam Wani was the chief guest, while, Minister of State for R&B, Javaid Ahmad Darvwas was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Range presented the welcome address. He said a total of 6441 players participated in the festival and participated in different games and sports including cricket, football, hockey, handball, kho-kho, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, athletics.
GA Khawaja, DC Baramulla presented the report about North Kashmir Sports festival.
IGP Kashmir SM Sahai expressed hope that some talent will emerge amongst the participants so that they could be sponsored by J&K Police at national level.
Javed Ahmad Dar Minister of State underscored the need for developing the sports infrastructure in the State especially in district Baramulla.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasir Aslam Wani commended the role of J&K Police in promoting the sports talent among the youth of the State as well as praised efforts of police in bringing about a turnaround in the situation promising lasting peace in the State.
He highlighted the need for developing true sportsmanship and perfecting of talent amongst the young budding players to make them eligible for wider sports platforms.
Major General Bipin Rawat, GOC 19 Infantry Division and other senior police and civil administration besides sports personalities of North Kashmir were present on the occasion.
A colourful cultural and musical programme amidst wide applause from public was enjoyed by one and all.
At the end, SSP Baramulla, Anand Jain presented vote of thanks.
