JMC Sanitation Committee discusses measures to combat COVID

JAMMU, July 24: A meeting of Public Health Sanitation Committee of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) was held under the chairmanship of its Chairman, Baldev Singh Billawaria regarding the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in Jammu. The Committee members included Raj Kumar, Shama Akhtar, Rajinder Singh, Teerth Kaur, Arun Kumar and JMC Officials Dr. Shamim Mir, Health Officer, CTO Harvinder Singh, MVO Sushil Kumar attended the meeting.
In the meeting, information about the work done so far by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) had been taken with COVID-19 and further discussion about the Corporation’s preparation on how it can be done better. Billawaria said that in the meeting, two days lockdown was also discussed by the Committee and members suggested at least 15 days to break the chain of COVID-19 is necessary. The matter regarding increasing rush of people in death and birth certificates section was also discussed, on which the Chairman appealed the people to apply online from home.
Billawaria said that the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation had been doing better work with less resources in the time of crisis with good coordination, while the Safaikarmcharies work in sanitization had been a special contribution in the sanitization of the city. The Corporation councilors also fully understand their responsibility and are working actively in their wards. He directed the Health Officer to not to allow the “Safai Karamchari” to work without masks and also directed the CTO to lift even small amount of garbage and pay special attention to clean the city.
Billawaria said that in view of the increasing number of case of COVID-19, the number of sanitization vehicles was increased so that the condition is dealt properly. In view of the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Jammu, Billawaria appealed the public that they should not come out of the house without masks and come out only when there is necessary work and keep about two yards of distance from each other so that we all could avoid the spread of corona virus.
