LUCKNOW, July 25: Expressing concern on the rising number of coronavirus cases in Uttar Pradesh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday demanded speeding up of testing and focus on the facilities of the COVID hospitals.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Ms Mayawati said, “The government should immediately pay attention on coronavirus testing, facilities in hospitals and cleanliness and hygiene in the COVID centers as the public is extremely concerned with the rising number of cases in the country’s biggest state Uttar Pradesh.”
Significantly, the number of new COVID-19 patients has increased by two and a half times in the last fortnight in UP. However, testing has also been increased during this time and till yesterday, this capacity had reached 50,000 samples per day.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officials to work on an action plan to increase the testing capacity to one lakh per day to control the infection. (UNI)
