Some BJP leaders turning land grabbers: Sawhney

JAMMU, July 28: Former minister and senior Congress leader Yogesh Sawhney slammed the BJP after another land dispute grabbing case involving a BJP leader came to light in J&K.
“Yet another former BJP minister has been accused of occupying land by illegal means. It exposes the abuse of power by some BJP leaders from Jammu and the J&K administration should not be blind and mute to it since the person involved has been a former minister”, stated Sawhney talking about the issue.
“BJP in J&K is becoming a party of land grabbers and land encroachers. Countless cases have been coming to the fore exposing their leaders acquiring state land or someone else’s lands, by using their political stature and power. And people involved are very senior BJP members and big names in the political scene. This only implies how deeply rooted the problem is in the party itself.
“There needs to be a proper inquiry to investigate this misuse of power at the hands of senior BJP leaders. Another senior BJP leader, himself, has accused him of illegal land possession and in fact, lodged an FIR, which is proof enough that these accusations aren’t empty,” Sawhney added.
The Congress leader demanded a Judicial probe into the matter and appealed to the J&K administration to conduct a proper inquiry. Apart from the ongoing police investigation, since this is a larger issue of misuse of political power and therefore, exploitation of the public, a Judicial probe and inquiry are needed in the matter, Sawhney asserted.
