Women Doubles: Karnataka outplays Maharashtra by 3-0 in quarterfinal

SRINAGAR, Apr 19: Karnataka women Deepti and Manda D outplayed S Mankad and S Bhagwat of Maharashtra by straight 3-0 sets in the quarterfinal round and advanced to the semis of the Women’s Double event, organised during the ongoing 20th J&K Bank National Veterans Table Tennis Championship at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Complex, here.
In Men’s Single above 50 quarterfinals, KK Roy of Maharashtra trounced Chanda Singh of MNP by 3-0 sets and the score remained 11-5, 11-3, 11-7, while Sanjay Day of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) thrashed Parshotam of Maharashtra by 11-10, 8-11, 11-8, 13-15, 16-14, V Kalyanam of Tamil Nadu beat Parkeshj Punjabi of Maharashtra by 3-1 sets (2-11, 11-7, 11-8, 11-7) and Prakash Kalker of Maharashtra beat Pragshah of Gujarat by 3-2 sets and the score remained 11-6, 7-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-2.
In Men’s Double above 60 quarterfinals, John Peter and Prem Kumar of Tamil Nadu registered 3-0 sets victory over Naveen Kumar and Sunil Kumar of Gujarat and the score remained 11-5, 11-2,11-4, whereas, Sita Ram and G Sawant of Maharashtra trounced Harish Shah and Rajesh Joshi of Gujarat by straight 3-0 sets (11-3, 11-6, 11-8).
In Mixed Double above 50 quarterfinals, KS Kedari and Nagaratna of Karnataka beat Anant and Seema of Maharashtra by 3-0 sets (11-5, 11-6, 11-9) and S Balajee and Joshna (Guj) thrashed Vilas Kalkar and Pretibha of Maharashtra by 11-7, 11-8, 14-12.
Meanwhile, in Men’s Single above 40 pre-quarterfinals, Mukal Boro of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) beat Vivek Alwani of Haryana by straight 3-0 sets and the score remained 11-8, 11-9, 12-10, Manish Ravat of Maharashtra trounced Ajay Thukral of Pune by 4-11, 15-13, 10-12, 11-2, 11-8, Atma Ram of Maharashtra beat Sudip Matru of West Bengal by 3-1 sets and the score remained 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-4, Marayam Ishatkar of Goa outplayed Abey Gupta of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by 11-7, 11-3, 11-8, Vivek Arora of West Bengal trounced Saneev Pathak of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) by 3-1 sets and the score remained 11-2, 10-12, 11-4, 11-4, Gagan Choudhary of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) beat Kapil of Maharashtra by 11-3, 11-9, 11-7, R Rama Chandram of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) crushed Heera Goswami of Haryana by straight 3-0 sets and the score remained 11-5, 11-6, 11-9 and Vikas Mahajan of Punjab beat Hitesh of Maharashtra by 12-10, 4-11, 11-3, 11-8.
