JAMMU, Aug 18: In another people friendly decision, the administration of Jammu district has started postal delivery of domicile certificates to the applicants.
“Now, the applicants have to just visit the Tehsil Offices for submitting the application form completed in all respect and the delivery of domiciles will be done through postal means by the Tehsildar concerned”, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan said, adding “the decision has been taken so that people don’t face hassles in getting this vital document”.
The Postal Department will make provisions at Post Offices for making available pre-printed domicile envelopes at standard pricing. These envelopes shall be available in Postal Offices with effect from August 21, 2020.
“The list of Post Offices where these pre-printed envelopes shall be available will be circulated once received from Postal authorities”, the Deputy Commissioner said, adding “the applicants shall purchase envelopes from Post Offices, attach with application form after filling their exact postal address with Pincode and Tehsildar concerned shall also write their address also as sender in the earmarked place so that the domicile certificate is returned if not delivered to the applicant”.
The Post Office officials will visit the office of Tehsildar concerned for collecting the envelopes and delivery thereafter. “A standard time will be fixed for this purpose”, the Deputy Commissioner said.
It is pertinent to mention here that few days back the Jammu district administration for the first time in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir launched domicile at door-step service initially in three tehsils.
To avail this facility, the people of Jammu West, Nagrota and Dansal tehsils are only required to provide the copies of State Subject Certificate, Aadhar card, ration card and photographs and they will get the domicile certificate immediately from the team travelling in the vans headed by the concerned Tehsildar.
All these initiatives clearly establish that the Jammu district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure hassle free delivery of domicile certificates to the people.
