Spalbar quits Cong

LEH, Aug 20: In a major jolt to Congress party in the Union Territory of Ladakh, its general secretary and a prominent leader of the UT Rigzin Spalbar resigned from his party post against the observance of Black Day by Territorial Congress Committee (TCC) working president, Asgar Ali Karbalai on August 5 the first anniversary of abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A from J&K and converting of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions into two separate Union Territories by Government of India.
It may be recalled that some Congress leaders have taken serious exception to the action of Karbalai and expressed their anger over it. They have even taken up the issue with the party High Command.
Prior to resignation of Spalbar,TCC vice president, Tsering Samphel also resigned on the same issue taking serious view of the action of Karbalai.
According to sources, Karbalai’s action has generated a revolt in the party in Ladakh UT as majority of the party men are of the opinion that it has harmed the interests of party in the UT to a great extent.
