Kuldeep Handoo among 13 nominated for Dronacharya Award

Jammu, Aug 21: Son of soil, Kuldeep Handoo, National Chief Wushu Martial Art Coach is among 13 who have been nominated for the prestigious Dronacharya Award which will be conferred on August 29.
As per the list declared by Union Sports Ministry, eight sports persons including Dharmendra Tiwary (Archery), Purushotham Rai (Athletics), Shiv Singh (Boxing), Romesh Pathania (Hockey), Krishan Kumar Hooda (Kabaddi), Vijay Bhalchandra Munishwar (Para Powerlifting), Naresh Kumar (Tennis) and Om Parkash Dahiya (Wrestling), have been nominated for Dronacharya Award in lifetime category, whereas Kuldeep Kumar Handoo (Wushu) is among five including Jude Felix Sebastian (Hockey), Yogesh Malviya (Mallakhamb), Jaspal Rana (Shooting) and Gaurav Khanna (Para Badminton) who were nominated in regular category for the prestigious award.
Presently, he is working as Inspector with J&K Police, associated with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board as Sports Board Member and members of Advisory Board of Central University of Jammu, apart from the National Chief Coach of Wushu.
While taking with Excelsior, he said that he had worked hard, first as player and then as coach to nominate for this award. “This is the honour for which, I have no word to express my happiness,” he added.
With this achievement, He will become first sportsperson of J&K UT who has been conferred with national prestigious Dronacharya Award.
