Police refining talent of sportsperson: DGP

JAMMU, Apr 20: IRP-19th and IRP-15th emerged overall winner in the men and women categories of the Inter Battalion Tournament, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), which concluded at police sports stadium, Gulshan ground, here today.
On the valedictory function, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Prasad was the chief guest, who presented the coveted trophy in the men and women category to the winners, in presence of SM Sahai, PL Gupta, SP Vaid, DR Doley and Dilbag Singh, ADGPs, Dr B Srinivas, Deepak Kumar, Dr. KK Saini, PR Manhas and Rajesh Kumar, IGPs, T Punchok, AS Bali, SA Watali, Johny William and Shakeel Beig, DIGPs, senior retired police officers and Commandants of Armed and IRP battalions.
While speaking, DGP said that J&K Police has been playing an important role in promoting sports and refining talent of sports person in the State. He said that the sports have helped in a great way to channelise the energies of youth.
DGP said that JKP has been organising various sports events within the Organisation, aimed at imbibing spirit of sports among the personnel to shape their figure and discipline. Such activities create a team spirit among the participants to face any hostile situation in their day-to-day working.
Earlier, ADGP Armed SM Sahai highlighted the sports activities under taken by JKP during the year and said that their aim is to identify the talented sports person and boost them for their performance at higher levels.
