JAMMU, Aug 28: Nagrota Sangarash Samiti (NSS) continued its sit-in-dharna in support of the demand for resumption of work on the Degree College at Nagrota.
Speaking on the occasion, Dutt regretted that despite the foundation laying ceremony and the repeated assurance about the resumption of the college complex at the approved site, no forward movement is seen notwithstanding the people sitting on dharna for nearly a month now.
“This is a piquant situation, which calls for immediate response from the administration and commitment about taking up the work in a time-bound manner”, he said, adding that already time has been lost due to vested interest of some elements, who can’t be well wishers of their own children. He said the establishment of college is imperative to ensure doorstep availability of higher learning for children which come from poorer segments of the society.
The agitating leaders hoped that the administration would come forward with a roadmap for the construction of the complex, the foundation stone of which was laid last year with fanfare.
Meanwhile, the ex-servicemen of Nagrota Assembly Constituency extended their whole-hearted support to NSS. Welcoming support of NSS, Dutt said that this reflects the steadfastness of the people of the constituency towards the common agenda of public good, especially as it concerns the youth, which crave for equal opportunities in education and other pursuits.
Rameshwar Dutt (ex-Sarpanch), Ravi Singh (Panch), Manoroma Kumar (Panch), Sanjay Sharma (Niab Sarpanch) and several others were present on the occasion.
