JAMMU, Aug 28: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee has questioned BJP for its dual standards in politics and for stating one thing in Jammu to play with the emotions of people and doing the opposite in Srinagar, while cautioning against any attempt of back door political adventurism in the troubled region.
Taking a dig at the BJP for its dual standards, JKPCC said that the party seeks exclusive rights in jobs to the local youth in Madhya Pradesh while it describes those raising the same demand here as anti-national in Jammu, whereas, it’s high profile general secretary in Srinagar holds parlays with the same set of leaders who stood for special position of J&K in the constitution. Should not the BJP be asked to explain its position on these aspects, before befooling the masses, JKPCC asserted.
JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that two days ago BJP showed a sort of political bankruptcy by stating all political parties and leaders seeking certain protections under constitution of India as pro-Pakistani but the same party through its high profile general secretary is engaged in political dialogue with leaders in Kashmir of opposed to the BJP’s stand. What the party is hob nobbing with the same set and categories of leaders in Kashmir who had been always propagated further strengthening such a special status.
It further said that any attempt to enter into corridors of power through back doors would be worst political adventurism in this troubled region and Centre should desist from any such experimentations and opportunism, which would be worst betrayal with the people in democracy.
Reiterating its demand for immediately restoring statehood and adequate constitutional safeguards for jobs and land to residents of Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress said the people should be given the right to elect their own Government at the earliest possible by creating a conducive political and security atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the party termed BJP’s utterances over the issues of internal democratic culture of the Congress party, as short lived and day dreaming, JKPCC said that Congress has always welcomed the suggestions within party and emerged stronger after such internal discussions and deliberations and BJP has nothing to cheer about it, which lacks any internal democratic culture.
