JAMMU, Sept 3: Former MLA Ramban, Ashok Kumar has urged upon J&K Lieutenant Governor that the concerned higher authorities of Rural Development should be directed to release remaining installments of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (PMAY) to the concerned poor beneficiaries in a transparent manner.
In a statement Kumar said there are several complains from the poor beneficiaries are there regarding the concerned authorities of Rural Development asking them to deposit some amount in their favour for releasing second or third installment of PMAY.
“It is a great injustice to the poor people who are somehow getting benefit by the scheme. Moreover, these poor beneficiaries are already suffering from different problems under Covid-19 pandemic and instead of supporting these helpless people the officials are harassing them and there is no check on these mal-practices,” he claimed.
Kumar said, after visiting several rural ‘Panchayats’ he noticed that many poor deserving people have not been covered in the PMAY scheme.
There is absolutely no transparency in the allotment of PMAY houses to the deserving people in far flung areas.
Ashok demanded a probe into the allegations.
