SRINAGAR, May 23: Defeating the formidable side of Kashmir University in the final comfortably by 3 wickets, Sofi Eleven lifted the VC T20 Open Cricket Cup at University grounds here today.
The Vice-Chancellor (VC) Kashmir University, Professor Talat Ahmad was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners- up teams on the occasion.
Batting first, the Kashmir University team scored 118 in allotted 20 overs losing 9 wickets. Sofi Eleven, however, chased the target comfortably in 19.4 overs and were declared  the winners of the VC  T20 cup wining the  match by 3 wickets.
In all 65 teams participated in the tournament, which was played on knock-out basis.
While speaking, Prof Talat said that such kind of events contribute a lot towards the development of society. He emphasised on the importance of physical education in the modern day world and assured the Directorate of Physical Education Kashmir University of all his support and cooperation in making it a very viable department at the campus.
Earlier, welcoming the guests and players, Director Sports Kashmir University Prof B A Khan said that the Sports Department would organize all types of events this year in inter-college calendar.
Prof A M Shah Dean Academic affairs, Prof Syed Fayaz registrar, Dean students welfare Prof Nilofar  Khan were present  at the concluding ceremony.
