Aditya guides PTS Kathua to lift Tawi Premier League Cricket Tourney title

KATHUA, Apr 22: Five wickets haul by Aditya Jain guided PTS Kathua to register 31 runs win over Young Star Cricket Club and to lift the title trophy of the Tawi Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Tawi Organising Committee in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) at Sports Stadium, here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, PTS Kathua posted a challenging score of 163 runs for the opponent team in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Hanan Mir was the top scorer who made 72 runs with the help of 8 boundaries and one lofty six, while Asif also contributed significant 45 runs with the help of five balls towards the fence. Ishtyaq also contributed 33 runs with the help of four boundaries.
For Young Star Cricket Club side, Rahil Singh was the pick of bowler with 2 wickets in his four overs spell after conceding 20 runs, whereas Sahil and Sumit scalped one wicket each.
In the second inning, Young Star Cricket Club failed to chase the score and bundled out at 132 runs for all out in 18.5 overs. Gurdeep was the only batsman who scored highest 56 runs in 49 balls with the help of 4 balls towards the fence.
For PTS Kathua side, Aditya Jain was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 5 wickets including hat-trick in his 3.5 overs spell by conceding only 15 runs.
Aditya Jain of PTS Kathua was declared as man of the match for his outstanding performance as bowler. Rompy of PTS Kathua was adjudged as man of the series for scoring 76 runs and taking 5 wickets in the tournament, Gurdeep of Young Star Cricket Club Jammu was declared as best batsman of series for scoring 114 runs in the tournament  and Manjeet was declared as best bowler of the series who scalped 5 wickets.
On this occasion, Dilbagh Singh, ADGP, Managing Director, Police Housing Corporation, was the chief guest whereas Atul Kumar Goel, SSP Kathua was the guest of honour.
Dilbagh Singh flanked by other dignitaries, awarded cash prize of Rs 50,000 and trophy to winner team, which was presented by Satyam Cement Kathua, while the runner-up team was awarded with Rs 20,000 cash prize along with trophy, which was presented by Chenab Textiles Mill, Kathua.
While speaking, Dilbagh Singh appreciated players of both the teams for showing good sportsmanship and asked the gathering to take part in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
Among others present were Shashi Paul, president, Tawi Organizing Committee, Rattan Bharti, Vice President, other members of the committee and sports lovers.
