JAMMU, Apr 23: Dewan Badri Nath (DBN) crushed BSF School, Paloura in the final by straight three goals to zero (3-0) and lifted Mir Iqbal Hussain Coca Cola Football trophy, being organised by District Football Association (DFA) under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College Football ground, here today.
In the first half of the match, Vivashvan Sahni of DBN netted the first goal in the 13th minute and raised the pressure on the opponent team players.
The players of the BSF School tried to equalize the scorecard, but the enthusiastic Vivashvan of DBN with his excellent footwork scored another goal in the 22nd minute and raised the scorecard to 2-0 goals.
BSF team players missed various attempts to net the goal and first half ended with two goals to nil.
In the second half, BSF players started playing mind games and most of the time succeeded to reach near to the opponents net, but the goalkeeper restricted them to net the goal with his alertness.
In the 55th minute, Ishan Gupta after finding a gap kicked the ball with full power, which landed in the opponent BSF team nets.
On the one side, the players of DBN were enjoying their winning lead of 3-0 goals, whereas on the other hand, the players of BSF School were making strategies to clinch the match.
The strategies of the BSF School players did not prove fruitful as the players of DBN did not give them any room to score the goal and the match ended with 3-0 goals.
The match was officiated by Moon Stiphen, Harneel Singh, Yousuf Don and Taranpreet Singh.
On the valedictory function, Devender Singh Rana, MLC and Provincial President, National Conference, was the chief guest, who presented the title trophy to the winning team in presence of Director General (DG), Youth Services and Sports Department, Navin Agarwal.
While speaking, Devender Rana appreciated the efforts of both winning and runner-up teams. “Losing the game teaches how to succeed”, he said while encouraging the runner-up team.
DG Sports Navin Agarwal threw light on the importance of sports in day-to-day life. He asked the gathering to participate in the sports activities so as to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
