JAMMU, Apr 23: Chess player of J&K Bank Atul Kumar Gupta brought laurels to J&K and the Bank after finishing joint first in the recently concluded Bangkok Challenger International Chess Tournament, being organised by Bangkok Chess Club under the aegis of World Chess Federation at Pattaya beach.
During the tournament, 5 players tied on same 6 points after seven rounds and Atul was declared second after tie breaker bucklouz system where opponents score is considered.
In the tournament, a total of 108 players from 23 countries including USA, Russia, China, France, England etc. participated.
Executive President and Chairman of the J&K Bank Sports Board, Abdul Hamid Banday congratulated Atul for achieving this feat and adding name and fame to the Bank in the international sports arena.
Meanwhile, Atul Kumar Gupta credited his performance to the top management of the Bank for encouraging him and other sports persons.
