JAMMU, Sept 23: Secretary Youth National Conference (NC), Tejinder Pal Singh lambasted the Union Government for not considering their demand with regard to inclusion of Punjabi, Gojri and Pahari languages in the official languages of Jammu and Kashmir.
Yesterday, Lok Sabha has passed a bill, under which Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi, apart from the existing Urdu and English, will be the official languages in the Union Territory of J&K.
In a statement issued today, Tejinder expressed anguish over ignoring the Punjabi, Gojri and Pahari languages and said that it is depriving the people from respective communities of their mother tongue and attack on their culture and tradition.
“For the times people of J&K have been demanding Punjabi, Gojri and Phari to be announced as official languages in the UT but with deep regret the same demand of masses was ignored by the Central Government on times together,” Singh said.
