Court directs enquiry into harassment by SHO

SRINAGAR, Oct 8: A local court today ordered for enquiry into alleged harassment of a girl by Station House Officer Women’s Police Station Rambagh in Srinagar.
Court of Special Mobile Magistrate Srinagar after taking serious note of complainant of the victim in her complaint filed alleged harassment by SHO, directed the SSP Srinagar to conduct enquiry into the matter and submit report before the court.
Court also directed the SHO women’s wing Rambagh to proceed with the investigation about domestic violence against the complainant-victim.
Complainant Seerat Mirza submits that she was harassed by and humiliated by the SHO when she went there for lodging complaint as regards to domestic violence against her.
She submits that instead of entertaining her complaint and lodging FIR against the accused, she was compelled to file complaint against the court of Forest Magistrate to redress her grievance.
It is further added that when she was called by the SHO for recording her statement and was harassed and humiliated in the Police Station and was compelled to put her signatures on blank paper which she did not and was confined in the Police Station illegally for 3 hours without any reason and cause.
“The victim was maltreated by the officials of police in police station for raising her voice against the crime against women”, reads the complaint.
