Vikar for ensuring adequate power supply during summer

JAMMU, Apr 26: Minister of State for Technical Education, Power and Information, Vikar Rasool today urged upon the officers of the Power Development Department to adopt effective measures to reduce transformer damages besides put in all out efforts in reducing power losses so that people do not face unscheduled and elongated power cuts during the coming summer months.
The Minister was addressing a high level meeting of officers to review the power scenario here today.
Among others, Principal Secretary PDD, Arun Kumar Mehta, Power Development Commissioner PDD, Manzoor Ahmad Salroo, Technical Secretary PDD, Asgar Ali Majaz, Chief Engineers,  Ajay Gupta, Shehnaz Goni and other Executive Engineers of Jammu Division attended the meeting.
Mr. Vikar urged upon the officers of the department to ensure that the AT&C losses are minimized to the maximum so that the loss of electric power can be checked which would go a long way in ensuring that the supply of electricity is regulated. He also asked for putting in place a mechanism by which the damage to various transformers can be checked.
To curb the menace of power theft, the Minister directed the officers to put in place a mechanism by which the same can be checked. He stressed upon the officers to ensure that the revenue targets given to different areas are met and in this regard no laxity should be given.
Mr. Vikar enjoined upon officers to make frequent inspections of concerned areas and have check for unregistered connections besides fines should be imposed and accordingly recovered. He also stressed that electric bills should be checked and verified by the authorized officers so that transparent and accurate billing system is ensured and the complaints of the consumers regarding the excess bills is also addressed.
The Minister also directed the officers to ensure that the scheduled of power of different areas is strictly adhered to especially during the coming summer months so that the people do not face any inconvenience.
