Festival of folk music, dances ‘Lokrang’ concludes

REASI, Oct 16: Three day festival of folk music and dances ‘Lokrang’ organized by Triple ‘A’ Performing Arts with the help of Union Ministry of Culture and local artists concluded here today.
On this occasion renowned artist from Sujandhar, Thakur Balwant Singh was the chief guest while Vibha Singh, Mukhtar Singh, Kaya Devi, Sarpanch and Davinder Singh were also present on the presidium.
The programme started with the traditional folk dance ‘Kud’ by Thakur Balwant Singh and party from Sujandhar and the event was decorated with colorful presentation by Godawari Devi, renowned folk singer.
The festival displayed rich Dogra cultural heritage, traditions, costumes etc inspiring younger generation to feel pride on the culture.
The folk dance parties that participated in the cultural festival included-Ladies Baakh presented by Godawari Devi & Party from Saual Suhar, Geetru folk dance by Bharat Singh Suria and party, Swaag traditional folk singing by Godawari Devi along with Rano Devi and party from Sujandhar, famous folk dance ‘Haran’ was presented by Raj Kumar and party, another famous ‘Geetru’ dance ‘Kalya Kawan’ was also presented by Bharat Singh Suria and party, Dogri, Punjabi faction Bhajan was presented by Raju Vijaypuria and party, Neelam Devi and party from Samakh presented folk dance and Sohan Lal and party performed (Bhaakh).
Among others present on the occasion were Raja Aamir Khan, Secretary Triple ‘A’ Performing Arts Reasi, Event Director Rohit Kumar, Neeraj Kesar, Tabraz Khan, Davinder Singh, Mukhtar Singh, Godawari Devi, Vibha Singh, Parveen Akhtar, Aasim Khan, Rifat Yasmeen, Temoor Khan, Sat Pal Sharma and people of adjoining areas.
