RESAI, Oct 19: Wrestler Bhupinder of Amritsar lifted 1st Aghar Jitto Kesri-2020 title by defeating wrestler Ishak Ahmed (Lallu) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in a neck to neck contest at Amphi Stadium, here today.
Bhupinder was adjudged as best wrestler of the contest, organised by Katra Indian Style Wrestling Association in coordination with Aghar Jitto Dangal Committee and District administration. The Dangal was organised on the eve of Navratra Festival by adhering the SOPs and guidelines issued by Government.
About 31 bouts were played during the Dangal wherein 1st Malli bout of Rs 18000 was clinched by wrestler, Bhupinder along wth Guraj (Gadda) and Patta while runner-up bout of Rs 13000 was awarded to wrestler Ishak Ahmed.
The 2nd bout was won by wrestler Nisar of Doda by defeating Deepak Kakran of Delhi, 3rd bout bagged by Deepak Kakran of Delhi by trouncing Baba of Domana Akhara Jammu whereas 4th bout was scored by Muneer of Nagrota by defeating Rashid of Bishnah. Kalu of Bishnah defeated Panku of Jammu, Nadeem of Doda beat Gopal of Jindrah while Salman trounced Sanjay of Aknoor and Surjeet Singh of Reasi defeated Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police.
Commandant CRPF 6th Bn, Jatinder Kumar Gupta was the chief guest and awarded cash prizes to the winner and runner-up wrestler. The function was presided by vice president of Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma while SDPO Katra, Kuljeet Singh, Retd SP Prithvi Raj Sharma and SHO Katra, Sunil K Sharma were the guests of honour.
