Truck carrying LPG cylinders seized

JAMMU, Apr 27: Police today seized a truck carrying filled and unfilled LPG cylinders from Narwal.
An official spokesman said that, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Department (LMD), Enforcement, spotted driver of a truck bearing registration No JK02AA-4815 selling domestic LPG cylinders to shopkeepers at Rs 800 per cylinder in Narwal.
On enquiry, it was observed that the said consignment was supposed to be transported to M/s Anantnag Gas Agency, Anantnag. However, instead of taking it to Anantnag, the driver was selling the cylinders in open market at exorbitant rates.
Deputy Controller immediately brought the matter into the notice of SDPO East, and the sales officer of the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL).
Later, police party from Narwal police post and the sales officer of HP reached the spot and seized the truck along with filled and unfilled domestic LPG cylinders, while the driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot.
