Employees, pensioners demand release of 6th Pay Commission arrears

SRINAGAR, Apr 28: J&K Government Employees Federation and J&K State Pensioners Welfare Society in a joint meting at Bemina today held under the chairmanship of patron of the Society Mir Ghulam Rasool discussed the burning problems being faced by the working class in the State.
Addressing the meeting Mir said that the struggle was the only means for getting the long pending demands of the working class resolved.
While highlighting the demands he stressed on release of arrears of 6th Pay Commission and leave salary for pensioners, merger of 50 percent DA in Basic Pay and on the same new DA on the basis of price index be granted, release of DA installment from January, difference in payment of HRA in rural and urban areas be removed, regularization of daily wagers and need base employees, increase in Medical Allowance, and grant of allowance to pensioners on pattern of Central Government pensioners.
The meeting also took the stock of the May Day celebrations and resolved that this year grand rally would be taken out in the Capital City of Srinagar on the May Day to express solidarity with the working class all over the globe. It also resolved to intensify the struggle against the exploiters.
The meeting among others was addressed by Abdul Ahad Rather president of the Federation, Noor Mohammed Kathjoo president of the Society, Mohammed Subhan Dar, district general secretary Pensioners Society, Mohammed Sultan Mir of Employees Federation, Ghulam Rasool from Handwara, Mohi-ud-Din Buhru, president of pensioners from Baramulla and Abdul Rehman Sheikh.
