HED Secy asks faculty to acquaint themselves with ICT’s modern tools

KATHUA, Nov 5: Commissioner Secretary Higher Education Department Talat Parvez has stressed upon the faculty members of Government Degree College (GDC) Billawar to get acquainted themselves with modern tools of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
He also asked the faculty members to upgrade themselves with technological advancement with integration of new education policy parameters with stress on digital learning, creative thinking and employment friendly curriculum. He also advised them to startup new initiatives in skill courses—industrial, professional and vocational.
Commissioner Secretary made these remarks during his visit to the GDC Billawar.
Principal of the institute Prof Sunil Uppal welcomed Commissioner Secretary by presenting a bouquet to him. Guard of honour was presented to him by NCC cadets of College.
Parvez inspected the college campus and other departments. He was apprised about details of teaching, non teaching and LFE employees viz students enrollment in different streams and respective semesters.
He was also apprised about different activities being performed by different college committees.
An interactive session was held with all the teaching and non-teaching staff members, Physical Director and Librarian of College.
Commissioner Secretary practically visualized the different Swayam Portal channels—an initiative of MHRD, Government of India.
He also inaugurated e-content room, which was recently created for making and use of e-content both by faculty members and students. He also inaugurated e-digital library and practically checked its various components.
Commissioner Secretary also honoured meritorious students of college.
In the end, Principal of the institute Prof Sunil Uppal presented vote of thanks.
